Movable Type 5.2.6 mit neuem Theme EIGER [UPDATE]
Wir berichten hier ja normalerweise sehr straight über Apple-bezogenene Inhalte, aber das aktuelle Update von Movable Type, der zu Grunde liegenden Website-Engine von Apfelhammer.de, wollen wir uns doch ausführlicher widmen. Hintergrund sind ein paar Änderungen die darauf schließen lassen, dass Movable Type doch gar nicht so tot ist, wie das bisher immer propagiertwird und auch seitens SixApart leider nicht anders gezeigt wurde.
]]>Das neue Theme "Eiger"
Movable Typoe 5.2.6 bringt nach dem Rainier-Theme in 5.2.3 erneut ein neues Theme, welches auf den seltsamen Namen "Eiger" hört, mit. Es ist für größere Firmen-Websites und Blog gedacht und kann neben Media Query (CSS) und unterstützter multi-device-Kompatibilität sowie über unterschiedlich zu gestaltende Logos, Headers und Banners aufwarten. Auch die Navigation kann einfach über boardeigene Funktionen von MT bearbeitet werden. Man sieht also, dass MT stärker als bisher wieder aktiv weiter entwickelt wird.
Die "Smartphone"-Möglichkeiten
Dies ist eine optionale Zusatzmöglichkeit die für MT Pro und MT Advance besteht. Sie besteht aus einem Smartphone-gängigen Mobile-Theme für den Admin-Bereich. Also das, was man unter Wordpress bereits seit circa 5 Jahren kostenlos durch z.B. WPTouch installieren kann, ist hier als teure Pro-Option ins System eingebaut. Allerdings, wie gesagt, handelt es sich hier um ein Mobile-Backend und nicht Frontend, deshalb hinkt der Vergleich auch etwas.

Ein paar weitere Improvements stehen an, die kurz allerdings in englischer Sprache erwähnt werden sollen.
Canonical Link Elements
Canonical elements can now be used with the MT tags "MTCanonicalURL" and "MTCanonicalLink".
Language settings expansion
The language in which a blog entry's date is displayed can now be set seperately from the general blog language settings.(109305, 109542) The language option can be set by accessing "Date Language" from the blog entry date "Compose" option. Once set, the date for the blog entry will be displayed in the standard format for the specified language. In connection to this change, the following tags have also been added:
Expanded Compatibility
The following browsers, programs and environments are now supported by Movable Type.
Compatibility with the Internet Explorer 10 Desktop Application
MT now offers compatibility with the Internet Explorer 10 desktop application.
Oracle 11g R2 Support
Movable Type Advanced now offers support for Oracle 11g R2.
Termination of TypePad AntiSpam Bundle Sales
The TypePad AntiSpam plug-in is no longer being offered as part of a Movable Type bundle. In May of 2013, the TypePad AntiSpam service changed ownership from Say Media to Impermium. For more information, please refer to the "Impermium FAQ Page".
MT5.2.6 includes fixes to a few bugs found in early releases of Movable Type. As is the case with any software, we recommend that you always keep your software updated and on the latest release version for security and stability.
MT5.2.6 also includes four NEW features. A new responsive web design theme named Eiger. A smartphone option offers a version of the Movable Type admin screen that has been optimized for Smartphone's, tablets, and other portable devices. Canonical link elements that can now be used with the MT tags. We have added expanded compatibility, adding the Internet Explorer 10 desktop application and support for Oracle 11g R2.
